To the Citizens of Hardin County:
My name is Johnny Morgan Alexander. I am running for the office of Hardin County Sheriff. I would like to introduce myself and tell you the reasons I am the candidate best suited to serve as your Sheriff.
I was born and raised in Hardin County and, given the choice, I would not live anywhere but our beautiful county. I have been married to my wife, Nancy Ann Alexander, for forty-one years and we have been blessed to raise our two daughters, Brandy and Kristen, in Hardin County. Nancy and I have three grandchildren, Alli, Peyton, and Alex, which our daughters and their husbands, Casey and Jonathan, are raising in Hardin County. My roots are deep in Hardin County and, as your Sheriff, I will use all my experience to continue to make Hardin County safe for your family and mine.
I am serving my thirty-sixth year as a law enforcement officer in our county. I began my career with the Savannah Police Department. I have been with the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department for 20 years where I served as a Deputy before being promoted to Sergeant Investigator. During my time with the Sheriff’s Department, I attended the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy where I received certification as training instructor for other officers. I am the official training officer for the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department and oversee all Deputy in-service training and certification. Further, I have attended the Tennessee Corrections Institute and received certification as a corrections officer and corrections training officer. I work with the jail administrator to oversee the initial training and in-service training of all the correctional officers at the Hardin County Correctional Facility. The Job of Sheriff requires management of many different and unique facilities and personnel. I am the candidate who has the training, certifications, and law enforcement experience to assure the public that these facilities and personnel are being managed effectively and efficiently.
If elected Sheriff, I have a vision for the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department. First, protection of the citizens of Hardin County is my number one priority. This includes providing greater protection for our children and grandchildren while they are at school and getting violent criminals off the street through vigilant and dedicated investigation and arrests. Second, I will aggressively fight the drug problems that affect our county by arresting and seeking harsh punishment for those that try to sell drugs in our county. Third, maintaining an efficient and effective department by ensuring that our deputies and correction officers have proper training and equipment to meet the needs of the job. I believe that I can do all of these things while making sure that the taxpayers’ money is budgeted in a responsible manner and implementing cost reduction measures at every opportunity.
I am honored to have the opportunity to use my years of experience and training to serve Hardin County as Sheriff. I am asking for your vote and support, so we can work together to keep Hardin County a wonderful place to live!
